About

Chamber Means Business is an annual exhibition which has been put together to give member businesses the opportunity to promote themselves and their products and services.

Keynote speaker James Mason, Chief Executive Welcome to Yorkshire.

James Mason joined Welcome to Yorkshire in January 2020 as chief executive and was very much looking forward to working with the team, building on previous successes, showcasing Yorkshire across the globe and welcoming visitors to exciting world-class events. However, the coronavirus crisis has meant that Welcome to Yorkshire is collaboratively working with the county’s tourism sector on a robust recovery plan, to support and promote businesses and attractions, to enable them to reopen, recover and rebuild, following Government guidelines. The ultimate goal being to Welcome BACK to Yorkshire all visitors.

Welcome to Yorkshire promotes the county as a place to Visit, Live, Work and Study through many initiatives and launched the year-long Walkshire campaign on 1st January, highlighting a walk for every day of the year (and more) exploring the county’s breathtaking countryside, spectacular coast, vibrant cities and so much more. An experienced business leader, James has worked in the education, sport, public relations, broadcasting, and charitable sectors. Formerly chief operating officer of a global sport scholarships business, he has also held senior leadership roles at Bradford City and Rochdale Football Clubs.

Bradford-born James, 41, began his career in sports journalism, becoming a familiar face on the BBC’s Final Score programme and has been a business owner, setting up his first company at 21 years of age before selling this prior to joining Bradford City in 2014.

In 2019 James founded a new café for dementia sufferers in Bradford (Bradford Memories) in association with the Sporting Memories Foundation, where he is a trustee. As a keen fundraiser, James ran the Great North Run in September 2019 and has hosted numerous dinners to raise both awareness and money for these good causes. He is an avid sports fan who loves football and cricket in particular and has travelled extensively in recent years.

General Information

The exhibition is free to attend and gives businesses the opportunity to talk to other businesses, build relationships and trade services and support. In 2012, the Chamber hosted its first Chamber Means Business Exhibition, one in Barnsley and one in Rotherham. Following the success of the events the two were merged to create an even bigger exhibition for the region. The event brings together hundreds of people to network, share ideas and do business together.

Why attend?

The exhibition is open to all businesses, regardless of location.

Whether you’re looking for products, contacts or networking, exhibitions are a productive way to build relationships and leverage the best contacts.

There will be over 50 businesses exhibiting, along with delegates on the day, allowing you to meet and build relationships face-to-face.

Keep up to date with trends and innovation, talk to exhibitors and attend seminars to learn about the newest products to enter markets or latest updates to industry and the community.

There will more than likely be a goldmine of freebies, our exhibitors are generous, and if you are interested in their service they may very well let you take a sample, pen, stress ball or more!

Reasons to exhibit

Exhibiting is one of the most efficient, effective and successful marketing activities available to you. Having a presence at Chamber Means Business will give you exposure to over 300 businesses.

It's a great place to launch and showcase new products/services, trial them on potential customers and receive immediate feedback.

Make immediate sales, there and then!.

Conduct market research and support other marketing activities.

Exhibition space is open to all sectors however priority is given to members of Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce.
